AUSTRALIAN TEAM WELCOME AT .AUCKLAND (rxcsi Asso'-'UTioif i AUCKLAND, August 17. I "This is the strongest Australian] hockey team which has yet visited New Zealand," said the manager of, the touring Australian team, Mr W.I Rothwell, when the party arrived by the Wanganella. New South Wales is represented by 12 players, while there is one player from each of the other states. I A luncheon, at which members of the Wellington team were present, was given to the visitors, who were welcomed on behalf of the citizens of Auckland by the De-puty-Mayor (Mr A. J. Entrlcan). Other speakers were the president of the Auckland Hockey Association (Mr Norton), the manager of the Wellington team (Mr McAlister). Mr W. H. Down, and Mr A. Lee, captain of the visting side. The team left by train for Hamilton, where the first match of the tour (against Waikatp) will be played. TEAMS FOR TO DAY CHEVIOT V.
