A public meeting of protest against the raising of the school entrance age was held in the Town Hall under the auspices of the Auckland School Committees' Association. The speakers included Mr J. Caughley, a former Director of Education, and members of the Educational Institute. The following telegram was received from Mr M. J. Savage, leader of the Opposition: "You are authorised to assure those interested, including public meetings, that all members of the Parliamentary Labour Parly will take advantage of every opportunity ' to further your request to have justice done to'children.'' The following resolution was carried by the meeting - .—"That this meeting resolves that the Government be asked to bring down legislation whereby children at Trie age of five years be allowed to be placed on public school rolls, and that this meeting is emphatically of the opinion that the reinstatement of five-year-old children is in the best interests of the child, the educational system, and the nation.
