LODGE MEETING
♦— At the monthly meeting of the Loyal Past Grands Lodge, No. 1, Bro. P. G. Barnes presided. Bros. H. W. Gourlay, J. McGuinness, and G. Doyle were appointed a sub-committee to report to the next meeting on the desirability of establishing an Oddfellows' magazine as outlined by Bro. Boyd, of the Loyal Malvern Lodge, at the next meeting. Bro. J. Byfield, P.G., will give a lecture on horticulture. Bro. J. Clark. Chief Templar, presided over the last meeting of the Sumner Pride Lodge of Juvenile Good Templars. The superintendent of junior works reported that the concert had proved a success, and that from the funds, a donation had been given to the church. Sister Ford, jun., reported that she had visited the Ashburton Lodge's annual banquet and had been asked to convey greetings to the Sumner Lodge. The offer of the Rev. W. Webb to give the lodge an evening's entertainment was accepted with thanks, and Bro. Ford was asked to make the necessary arrangements. It was decided to hold a fancy dress parade on August 16. The programme for the evening was in the hands of Bro. W. Sexton, secretary, and Bro. J. Clark, Chief Templar.
