PRE-NATAL INFLUENCE
TO THE BDITOB. OF THE I'HESS. Sir,—The paragraph in "The Press" of Tuesday last, concerning the above subject in the earmarking of cattle, is intensely interesting. I have frequently heard of similar happenings in sheep, the earmarking of the ewe being reproduced in the lambs. The experiences of .your many interested correspondents should be welcomed. How would human beings be affected in similar circumstances? We have many instances of "mouse fright" in mothers, the consequence being the well-known "mouse mark" borne by certain people. Long-standing human mutilations, similar to the cattle branding marks mentioned in your article, should be available; or is it, as Shakespeare says, that "there is a divinity doth shape our ends, roughhew them how we will"? Yours, etc., GOYISHIR. (August 18, 1034
