BYRD ILL FOR WEEKS

* Poisoned by Kerosene Fumes WOULD NOT CALL FOR HELP LBy Radio—Special to the United Press Association, Copyright. From the Byrd Expedition.! (Received August 15, 7.50 p.m.) LITTLE AMERICA, August 14. Admiral Byrd is resting comfortably, according to messages from Dr. Poulter. However, he is too weak to begin the return journey immediately, and the entire party will remain at the Boiling advance weather base for an indefinite time. Dr. Poulter confirmed the suspicion that Admiral Byrd was so badly weakened by poisoning from kerosene fumes in Juno that he was unable to take care of himself properly, and spent at least half the time in his sleeping bag. Dr. Poulter says he was too proud to call for help and expose men to the risk of the winter journey on his behalf, even in the direst extremity.
