Wellington—A strong and squally north-westerly wind blew yesterday There was light sunshine in the morning, but for the most part it was cloudy and mild. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 55.0 degrees, and the maximum for the day 58.3 degrees. Duneclin—Sprint; weather was enjoyed yesterday, t.'rj sun shining from a clear sky. For the greater part of the day a light north-wost wind was blowin;. The maximum temperature was 08 degrees. The barometer was Iteady last evening at 2!).65iii.
FORECAST | (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) . General Situation—A deep westerly depression still extends from Eastern (Australia, across the Tasman Sea and I New Zealand. Winds—Strong northerly to westerly, reaching gale force in many places. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Moderate in coastal waters riorth of Castle Point; elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong northwest to west winds to gales, backing later to south-westerly in the southern portion; seas rough to heavy. Weather—Still unsettled; squallv, with rain at times, in all western districts. Heavy falls in Westland. Mainly fair at first, however, on the East Coast south of GLsborne. Temperatures mild.
