AUSTRALIAN COTTON TARIFFS
* LANCASTER REPRISALS UNOFFICIAL BOYCOTT OF DAIRY PRODUCE LONDON. August 13. An unofficial boycott of Australian dairy produce is threatened by some sections of the community in Lancashire as a retort to Mr J. A. Xyons's announcement in his Budget speech that Australia intended to impose tariffs on cotton to assist her cotton industry. The boycott began spontaneously in Bolton and other small cotton towns. It is threatening to spread to Manchester and Salford.
