THE WINTER SHOW
MANY SCHOOL CHILDREN ATTEND Large crowds again visited the Wiuter Show in the King Edward Barracks yesterday. Children from 13 schools attended in organised parties during the day. Adults who paid for admission numbered 2415 and children 51, a total of 2926, about the same as last year. The carnival atmosphere always so evident at the show was in keeping with the spirit of Grand National Week, and everybody present last evening had a holiday air of enjoyment. The music provided by the Returned Soldiers' Association orchestra and the dancing numbers staged by Miss Dorothy Manhirc's pupils added to the general atmosphere of gaiety. In the afternoon a Punch and Judy pantomime entertained the children, while there was also a display by Mr C. Buckett's gymnastic pupils. The schools sending organised partics to the show yesterday were:—New Brighton (150), Wharenui (100), Lyttelton (980), West Lyttelton (65), Marshland (40), Christchurch East (300), Normal (250), Redcliffs (50), Cashmere (100), North Linwood (290), Hornby (30), Victory (60),. and St. Peter's (501.
