SALVATION ARMY LEADERSHIP

ELECTION ON AUGUST 28 MEETING OF HIGH COUNCIL (BEITISB OFSICIAL WIEELE33.) (Received August 10, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, August 9. Forty-seven delegates from 22 countries will attend the meeting of the Salvation Army High Council, which will be held in London on August 28 to elect a successor to General Higgins, who will retire from the leadership of the Army on November 1. The flection will be by ballot and a two-thirds majority will be required before a new general can be appointed. Nothing in the laws governing the Salvation Army precludes a woman from becoming genera]. A sister and a daughter of the late General Bramwell Booth hold high rank in the list of officers and are members of the High Council.
