BOXING

DAL COSTA V. WRIGHT Dal Costa, bantam champion of New South Wales, who meets the New Zealand champion in a bout of 15 threeminute rounds at St. James' Theatre to-morrow night, is 21 years of age and is considered to be one of the finest boxers that Australia has pro. duced for many years. As an amateur his victories were many. At the age of 13 he joined the ranks of the professionals and met with much success. He has had 22 contests. He is a twohanded fighter and pretty to watch, and, like his opponent. Wright, can take punishment, having wonderful stamina. He is under contract to the Australian Boxing Council, end if he beats Wright he is to fight Blandon at Rushcutters' Bay Stadium next month, the Australian title being at stake. The winner of that bout will go to America.

Wright, the New Zealand champion, when interviewed, said: "I am fit, happy, and confident. I fully realise that Dal Costa will be the most difticult proposition that I have yet met in the ring. I am a trier, and if beaten will have no excuses." He has been offered by cable contests in Sydney if he secures the decision over Dal Costa, and as he says this is n wonderful opportunity for him he is out to make the most of it. Patrons may look forward to real thrills during this bout, which is to be preceded by the following in the order given:Amateur middle-weight, Pitia Pcpnnai v. R. Rriihwcll; amateur light-weight. Hoy Le.-ter v. Vivian Thomas: amateur feather-weight, Norman Fisher v. J. Currie; emergency bantam-weight contest if required, S. Mitchell v. J. Amtman; professional feather-weight contest of 10 three-minute rounds, Percy Hawes v. Con. Brosnahan. Doors will open at 7 p.m.. and the first contest will start at 8 p.m. Reserves and day sales may be obtained at Lange's, United Service buildings.
