STREET NUMBERS

ALTERATIONS MADE CONFORMITY WITH CITY'S POLICY [ In a campaign to .secure uniformity in street numbering, the Chr'stchurch City Council has now completed the renumbering of certain streets in the Papanui district. In Christchurch the policy of the council is to have streets running from west to east numbered from west to east and to have streets running from south to north numbered from south to north. In the Papanui district there were several streets in which the numbering was opposed to that policy and also in which the distances between hous?s measured in terms of frontage did not tally with the allocations of numbers. For each 33 feet of frontage or part of 33 feet a number is allotted. In the following streets in the Papanui district the numbering has been altered to comply with the council's policy and measurements of frontage have been checked: — Hawthorne street, from St. Andrew's terrace to Papanui road; Halton street from St. Andrew's terrace to Papanui road; B'igh's road. from Wairarapa road to Papanui road; Belvue avenue, from St. James avenue to Papanui road; St. John street, from the railway line to Papanui road.
