At the present time the demand upon the Mayor's Relief of Distress Fund is greater than it has been at any time during the last two years. This is the peak month for distress. No fewer than 2,500 families are entirely dependent upon the generosity of Ghristchurch citizens for adequate food and clothing. Available funds are woefully short of requirements.
