The match was held at the club grounds at Sockburn, and the nine who tied will divide the prize. The match is part of the New Zealand championship shoots and open handicaps. The match was timed to start at 9 a.m.. and the early competitors had beautiful weather, though the later starters had to contend with a strong south-west. wind.
