Mackley, general manager of the New Zealand Railways, who has been attending a conference of the railway commissioners of Australia and New Zealand, returned to-day from Sydney. Mr Mackley will furnish a. report of the proceedings to the Railways Board. He said the conference was a very valuable one. Mr Mackley investigated railway problems affecting New Zealand. The exchange of views with Australian officials would prove very useful, he said. Commenting about conditions generally in Australia, Mr Mackley said that from a business point of view, thing* sepmed to be a little wncertein.
