Mr G. C. Godfrey has been appointed a member of the Small Farms Board. Dr. H. G. Denham returned lo Christchurch from Wellington by the Rangatira yesterday. The Hon. T. O'Byrne, M.L.C., was a passenger from Wellington on the steamer express yesterday morning, Messrs W. J. Coulter, A. McClelland, E. McNab, W. M. Metcalf, and D. G. Cain are gazetted members of the Rangitata Domain Board. Messrs G. C. Warren, G. Cridge, J. Coombes, F. J. Narbey, and W. Stotl. have been appointed members of the Darfield Domain Board. Mr J. D. Gobbe left ChristchuF.h yesterday for Hokitika, where he will judge all classes at the annual show of the Hokitika Poultry Club. Mr A. R. Shcpard, general manager of the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd., arrived in Christchurch by the Rangatira, yesterday morning. Mr G. Norman Pask, schoolmaster, R.N., has been appointed to H.M.S. Sussex, as schoolmaster, for the tour of H.R.H. the Duke of Gloucester to attend the Melbourne Centenary. Mr Pask was in the Diomcdc from 1930 to 1933. Mr A. F. Wright, president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, and Mr H. S. E. Turner left for Wellington last evening to attend a meeting of the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. They expect to return o"n Saturday. Lieutenant H. E. Erridge, Ordnance Officer of the Southern Command of the New Zealand Military Force, has been appointed Ordnance Officer (provisional) at the mam ordnance depot. Trentham. Lieutenant D. Nicol has been appointed to fill the position to be vacated by Lieutenant Erridge at Burnham. The Rev. H. J. Odell, minister of the Thorndon Methodist Church, Wellington, has accepted an invitation to the Napier charge. Subject to ratification by the New Zealand Methodist Church Conference m Februarv. the change will take place in April. Mr Odell has been at Thorndon more than three years. Mr M. M. Cooper, B.Agric.Sc, who for the last five vears has been * student at Massey Agricultural College, will sever his connexion with that institution on August 5 _ arid spend some time in visiting fnenas before sailing by the Rangitiki on August, 31 for England to take UP the Rhodes Scholarship which i» was awarded. He will study rural economics for three years at urnvershy College, Oxford, and hopes'* complete in London his sutdies tor Ihe degree of M.Agric.Sc, for whicn he would this year have been sitting in New Zealand.
