CITY COUNCIL ESTIMATES
- ♦ I CONSIDERATION L!Y j COMMITTEE ■ j Consideration of this year's estimates for the Christchurch City Council has almost been completed by the sub-committee set up at Monday's special meeting of the finance committee of the council. The chairman of the Finance Committee (Mr J. K. Archer) said yesterday that the full committee would meet again on Tuesday next, and the estimates would then be | finally dealt with ready to be presented at the next meeting of the council. After Monday's meeting of the committee indications were that there would be no change in the general rate of 2'.d in the £ on unimproved value, levied by the council last year, but as many reduced valuations would mean a decrease of about £.2000 in the to'al receipts-, it would be necessary to curtail expenditure.
