The conversations between the French and British Ministers in Loriuon were chiefly devoted to French explanations of the proposed pacts of mutual assistance, with the League of Nations as a connecting; link. The system will consist of a pact for North-Eastern Europe, consisting of France. Germany, Russia. Poland. Czechoslovakia, and the Baltic States, a Mediterranean pact, embracing France. Itaiy. Jugoslavia, Rumania, Greece, and Tirkey, and finally a genera) pact, endorsed by the signatories of the existing pads, setting forth the judicial relations of those texts with the League Covenant. A communique issued at the close of the conversations states:— "M. Louis Barllmu (French Foreign ?Jinistcr) and M. Francois Pietri (Minister for the Navy) vis-ted the Foreign Office accomnanied bv the French Ambassador (M. Charles Corbin) and M. Alexis Legcr. Soerr'ary-General of the Ministrv for Foreign Affairs, and M. Rene Massigli. of (Ik- Ministrv for Foreign Affairs. They were received by Sr John Simon. Foreign Secretary. Sir Bolton Eyn s-Monse'l, First Lord of the Admiraltv, Mr R. A. Eden. Lord Privy Seal. Sir Robert V'ansittart. Permanent (Jnder-Sectetary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Lord Stanhope, Parliamentary Undor-Seere-larv of State for Foreign Affairs. "Conversations of a particularly cordial character took place, in which views were exchanged on questions of mutual interest, to the two countries in Europe. This exchange of views was continued by the Foreign Minister- in the afternoon, while M. Pietri and Sir Bolton Eyres-Monsell met at the Admiralty to consider preparations re)' the 1D35 Naval Conference." The conversations will be resumed at the Foreign Office and the Admiralty to-morrow.
