CYCLING
CENTENARY THOUSAND j One of the attractions of the Melj bourne Centenary celebrations will be the richest cycling event in the world, the Centenary Thousand, to be run over a course of 1109 miles round Victoria. The race has already attracted a great deal of interest among cyclists, and it promises to be one of the chief sporting events of the centenary. Probably a team of six will represent New Zealand, together with some individual riders from the Dominion. The race will start on October 20 and finish on October 27. It will be run under the rules of the League of Victorian Wheelmen, and will be conducted by the Dunlop Perdriau Rubber Company, with prizes of a total value of about £2500. The race will be limited to a select field of about 100 Australian, New Zealand, and. it is hoped, international riders, with two sections, a group handicap and a championship section. I
