QUARTERLY SOCIAL HELD

The quarterly social of the Canterbury Pilgrims' and Old Colonists' Association was held on Saturday afternoon at the Masonic Hall, Mr E. R. Webb presiding over an attendance of 320 members and friends. It was announced that among the early settlers present were Mr A. R. Pavitt, who was a passenger in the ship Monarch, the Rev. F. G. Brittan (the Sir George Seymour), and Mrs E. D. Howell (the Randolph). Lantern views of early Christchurch and Lyttelton were shown from slides chosen by Messrs Webb and Selwyn 'Bruce. The programme was as follows: "Gavotte," by Misses Ngaio Marsh and V. Macmillan-Brown, Messrs DLindasWalker, G. Hutchipson, F-. Page, and Robin Speight; song, Miss Grace Torkington; trio, Miss N. Middleton, Messrs Francis Bate and Albert Bidgood; and a sketch, "The Crystal Gazers," Messrs Collins and Pearce; song, Miss Millicent Jennings. _____
