Once more cloudy weather settled over the city yesterday and a very light breeze blew from the west. A very light drizzle started falling shortly before 7 p.m., but soon cleared up. The evening was chilly and there were prospects of a light frost. The maximum temperature recorded was 49.8 degrees.

Winds—Moderate to fresh, but- decreasing southerly, veering later to westerly and north-westerly in the south. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Still a considerable southerly swell on the East Coast and north of Cape Egmont; otherwise moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Southerly winds, fresh at first, soon moderating and giving place to variable winds; seas rather rough, but decreasing. Wellington—The weather in Wellington was changeable, with occasional light showers, accompanied by a moderate to fresh southerly wind. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 48.5 degrees, and the miximum for the day was 48.8 degrees. Dunedin—Unsettled and wet weather was experienced yesterday, light showers falling -ai the greater part of the day. A light southwest wind was blowing, and the maximum temperature was 45 degrees.
