ANCIENT EGYPT
A Short History of Ancient Egypt. By Arthur Weigall. Chapman and Hall Ltd. 280 pp. (8s 6d net.) Probably neither in English nor in any other language is there a better short history of old Egypt than this. There are 25 illustrations and a map. Mr Weigall's experience as Inspector-General of Antiquities to the Egyptian Government gave him the knowledge and opportunity to write a little book on a great subject. No one but a first-class authority can perform such a task well. Mr Weigall has done this, and his recent death deprives the world of a great exponent of Egyptological studies. Biblical students and those interested in the history of the ancient East will find this book indispensable owing to the skill with which so much information has been packed into so small a space.
