QUALITY OF N.Z. BUTTER

PRAISE FROM ENGLISH HOTEL CHEF (THE PItESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, June 22. Praise for New Zealand butter is contained in a letter from the chef of the Cafe Anglais at the Hotel Metropole, Brighton, a well-known English hotel. The letter was handed to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce recently, and in the opinion of the president, Mr A. G. Lunn, it reveals the necessity for improved marketing and advertising methods for New Zealand dairy produce in England. A New Zealand woman in England sent to the chef samDles of New Zealand and Danish butter which she had purchased in London. The chef's reply reads as follows: "We have received the samples, for which we thank you very much. After having tested and sampled the two kinds, we decided that they were both excellent, more especially the New Zealand butter, which was exceptionally good." Mr Lunn claims that this opinion should be reassuring to many New Zealanders who have been unable to see why Danish butter should command a higher price than Dominion butter. He adds that invoices from London stores were sent with both samples, showing that New Zealand butter sold for lOd a pound and Danish Is a pound. In another case the respective prices were lid and Is 2d. Expert opinion did not seem to bear out the disparity in price.
