As the result of a raid upon a billi;:i ards saloon in Arawa street on June 4- by the police, the proprietor, Robert Allan Donald Gray, appeared today before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., charged on two counts with carrying on business as a bookmaker, and allowing the premises to be used as a common gaming house. The police Produced records of betting transactions and other betting material, and after hearing evidence tire Magistrate convicted Gray on both charges, fining "'m £ls in each case.
