THE WEATHER After a long period of overcast and damp weather in the city the sky cleared yesterday, and there was warm sunshine for several hours. A light south-west wind blew, and the maximum temperature was 51.8 degrees. There was a light fog in the evening. The barometer remained below normal, and was falling slowly, registering 29.65 in last evening. Wellington—Some light rain fell throughout yesterday at Wellington. The weather was dull and misty, with a very light southerly wind. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 47.9 degrees and the maximum for the day was 50 degrees. Dunedin—There was a continuation of unsettled weather, with a light drizzle and a light south-west breeze. The maximum temperature was 47 degrees. The barometer fell slightly to 29.95 in last evening. FORECAST <From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—A depression has remained centred near the northern
extremity of New Zealand, but has been losing intensity, while an anticyclone has extended gradually across the Tasmaii Sea. i Winds—Moderate but freshening, southerly. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough north of Farewell Spit and East Cape, elsewhere moderate; later rising south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea—Southerly winds, strong in the northern portion, with rough seas: moderate in the southern portion, with moderate seas.
