PRESENTATION TO REV. C. A. TOBIN
RETURNED SOLDIERS' APPRECIATION A deputation of members of the Bui-wood sub-committee of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association ■waited upon the Rev. C. A. Tobin, vicar of Burwood, and presented to lum a framed photograph of the service held at Burwood War Memorial on Anzac Sunday, April 22. Tn making the presentation, the chairman of the sub-committee (Mr J. Wright) paid a tribute to the splendid spirit and courage of the vicar in rising from a sick bed at his advanced <-ge to take the service, and in leading the procession from the church to the churchyard and memorial. Mr Turner 'the former secretary) also spoke of the great pleasure it gave the comJ nit tee to make this small presentation an appreciation of Mr Tobin's unfailing courtesy and help to all returned men, and especially of his determination on this occasion. Mr Tobin, in replying, said that he would feel it an imperative duty to take that service as long as he was ible. Before the deputation withdrew ibe toast "Absent and Departed ComKtdc:;" was honoured in silence.
