OBITUARY

MRS J. E. STEVENS At Invercargill, last week, Mrs Dora S. Stevens, widow of Mr Joseph EcU ward Stevens, died at the age of 86. She was the oldest daughter of Mr Thomas Perkins, one of the pioneer members of Invercargill's business'' community. Mr Perkins was at one time editor of the "Southland Times,? and was also very intimately connected , with the Southland Hospital, being first secretary of the Southland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Mrs Stevens taught for 30 years in the Clyde School, where her husband" taught for 40 years. Of her 14 chil- ' dren, 10 survive her. One, Mr J. E.
