INDIAN TEXTILE STRIKE
- —♦ IDLE WORKERS CLASH WITH POLICE (Received April 25, 9.3 p.m.) CALCUTTA, April 24. The strike position took an ugly turn to-day when 18 more mills closed, making 30,0.-0 idle. Workers defied the police ban on demonstrations, crowds attacking loyal workers and stoning the mills. Thirteen Labour leaders were arrested, including Miss Maniben Kara. There were frequent clashes between police and strikers, but the latter were dispersed by baton charges. Scores were arrested.
