PRINCE GEORGE BACK IN ENGLAND
HONOUR FROM KING KNTII I'ELASTIC CKOWI) AT , SOUTHAMPTON LONDON, April 23. ; After a three months' tour of; many thousands of miles through Africa, Prince George arrived home to-day. He lost no time in going to Windsor to greet the King and i Queen. When he reached Southampton in 'the Windsor Castle a civic deputation and a large cheering crowd awaited him. He drove to the muni-; cipal air port where the Prince of; had sent one of his private aeroplanes to await him. In this he. and his staff Hew to Windsor Great Park, and after goin.t; to the Prince of Wales's house at Fort Belvedere, he and his brother drove to the castle where they remained to tea and dinner with their Majesties. ! Prince George looked very brown and well. He said he had Wad a splendid time. The King invested Prince George with the Order of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George, and the Companionship of the same Order was conferred on Major Ulick Alexander, Comptroller to Prince ! George. ! The crowd cheered the Windsor j Castle, which was flying Prince I George's personal standard at the j mizzenmast, when clocking at Southampton, but Prince George was below deck, saying good-bye to the friends he had made during his voyage. [ The Prince was going ashore, j when he stopped and remarked, "Alexander, I have not said goodjbve to the captain." The steward summoned him, and Prince George shook hands, saying. "It has been a marvellous trip." | The "Daily Mail," in a leading I article, savs: ""Prince George's tour has demonstrated the enormous I value of these personal contacts be- '< tween the Crown and the DominI ions. The South African ovations (were expressions of loyalty as well as an appreciation of Prince George's personal charm."'
