ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION AND LOCAL BODIES
TO TUB EDITOR OK TUB PHESS. j I Sir.— Tt would appear from recent J reports of meetings in the newspapers j that there is a complete misunderstanding with regard to the attitude of the St. John Ambulance Association towards the local bodies. The suggestion that a rate should be struck for the St. John Ambulance transport service was not made by tne St John Ambulance Association, nor was it said that it was trying to geu this through by act of Parliament. It was merely stated that an act would be reouired to carry this out. The' idea of striking a rate came entirely from a representative of a local bodv. whose one aim was to assist the St. John Ambulance Association and create a basis for a discussion. , . i The onlv reason for the conference between the St. John Ambulance Association and the representatives of local bodies was to elicit the sympathy of all the latter, in the hope that they would see their way to increase their grants, or to make a grant if not already doing so, and thereby reimburse the service for some of the expense of running the ambulances to their respective districts.—Yours, etc.. J. RESTELL THOMAS, ; Chairman. St. John Ambulance Association. I ; April 25, 1934.
