RUGBY UNION MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT TO BE ORGANISED The management committee of the rintcrbury Rugby Union met on Tuesday evening. Present were mputs A. E. An application for a ball from the Te One School, Chatham Islands, was referred to the New Zealand Union with a recommendation that it should he favourably considered. The application mentioned that there were three schools on the islands, and a ball ior each would be appreciated The competitions committee was empowered to proceed with arrangements for a seven-a-side tournament cm June 4 to be open to all unions and sub-unions. , ,„ ,_. Messrs W A. Britten and W. B. Fuller were reappointed representatives of the union on the committee which grades referees. The Ashburton Union wrote asking if it would be possible to send a senior team from Christchurch on June 4to play in Ashburton. It was decided to reply that owing to the seven-a-side tournament to be held on that date it would not be possible to send a team. The Banks Peninsula sub-union gave notice of its intention to move at the meeting of delegates on May 2 that the accident fund regulations of the Canterbury Rugby Union be amended to permit Canterbury sudunions to participate. Mr E. C. Lawrence, Portage, Marlborough Sounds, offered a two weeks' holiday at Portage, to the senior player in Christchurch who scored most points in the competition games. The offer included a friend of the player.
