ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL
The Willowby-Eiffelton Women's Institute celebrated its third birthday anniversary with a social and dance in the Willowby Hall. Mrs R. Pearce (president) thanked all members for their support during the year and extended a welcome to visitors from sister institutes. Greetings were received from the Hinds, Lowcliffe. Ealing. Ashton-Waterton, Mavlield. Timvald, and Ashburton district institutes, the speakers being Mesdames McQuilkin, Turner, and Minogue. . , Mrs A. S. Hayman cut the birthday cake. Prizes won during the year were presented by Mrs A. E. Cockroft iAshburton) as follows:—Most points: Mrs B. T. Clothier 1, Miss M. M. Lill 2, Mrs S. P. Taylor 3. Potato competition (Mrs Pearce's special prize): Mrs J. Oakley. During the evening games were enjoyed and competitions were won by Mrs R. Quinn, Miss L. Vessev. Miss Helen Hillyer, and Miss H. Lill. . Music for dancing was supplied by Messrs H. H. Hawkins, J. Moffatt, and P. Sheehan, jun., and Roger Ford. Mr B. T. Clothier was master of ceremonies. Novelty dances were won by Mr and Mrs R. Quinn. The programme included the following items: —'Cello solos, Miss Hazel Lill (.accompanied by Miss M. M. Lill); songs. Miss Andrew (accompanied by Miss W. Andrew): recitations. Miss M. Taylor and Mr H. H. Hawkins; play, Mesdames A. S. Hayman, A. Hillyer, Misses Alma Watts, Ethelwynne Hayman, Dorothy Taylor, and Elsie Pratley: pla.vette, Mesdames R. Pearce, S. j H. Lill. J. R. Lattimore, B. T. Clothier, Messrs S. H. Lill and R. Pearce.
