HEALTH STATISTICS

There was an increase of nine cases of infectious and other notifiable diseases reported in the Canterbury Health District in the week which ended at noon yesterday, as compared with the previous week. The total was 12, as follows:—Scarlet fever, two; diphtheria, two; tuberculosis. five; puerperal sepsis, one; erysipelas, two. There were three deaths, as compared with one the previous week, one each from tuberculosis, hydatids, and puerperal fever (not ordinary). No cases and no deaths were reported from the West Coast district.
