PLOTTING IN RUMANIA
LONG SENTENCES FOR THIRTEEN MEN BUCHAREST, April 22. The War Council sentenced Colonel Precup, seven other officers, and five civil servants to 10 years' solitary confinement for participation in the conspiracy against King Carol. The officers were disrated and dismissed the service. [On April 10 several officers were arrested for participation in a plot against King Carol. It was stated that they intended to blow up the cathedral when the Royal Family was expected and then proclaim Colonel Precup, military dictator, with either Prince Nicholas or Prince Michael on the throne.]
