AUSTRALIAN GOVERN MENTS INVESTIGATIONS CANBERRA, April 21. A small Government committee will be appointed to report, upon the question of establishing a plant in Australia for Ihc production of oil from coal by the hydrogcnation process. The Newnes Investigation Committee considers that Newnes is ihe most economical location lor a retorting and treatment plant lor I 're production of oil from shale. It siiiifcsts that a company be formed wuii a capital of .'; 000.000. Since ihe appointment o! Mie committee, reductions in petrol prices have decreased the retail value of the proposed output iroin Newnes by about e 100.000 a year.
