MR C. K. IiORCHGREYINK • Received April 22, 8.50 p.m.) OSLO. April 21. The death has occurred of the explorer, Mr C. E. Borchgrevink. ICarstcn E. Borchgrevink was born in Christiana mow known as Oslo) in 1864. His father was a Norwegian barrister and his mother an English woman. He was educated at Gjerlsen College, and was a graduate of the Royal College, Tharandt, Saxony. He went to Australia as a young man and in 1894 went to the Antarctic in a whaler. He commanded the Ne.wnes Southern Cross expedition to the Antarctic in IS9G-J9OO. He was later awarded the patron's medal of the Koyal Geographical Society. He was
