A SUC.'CESSI-TL SEASON I f The executive uf tiic Chn'ML-litfchß Savage Club has a most satisfuctor; annual report to present at the forifirst annua] meeting, to be held a Saturday, April 21. The report state! that the attendances at the korercs throughout tlie year were well maintained and thai the spirit uf savagery had been even more markrd than m the past. The programmes maintained a high standard of originality and interest. Once again the treasurer (Savage V,'. J. Le Cren) did good work with the limited funds available. The receipt) amounted to £292 Ss Cd, and the expenditure to £3lB 17s lid. and the credit balfjice is now stated to be £163 5s 7d. One of the effects of the finan- ' cial difficulties through which the!, country had been passing was a drop | in club membership. The figures were | now: Life members 3. honorary mcr.- J bcrs 1, orchestral members 22, ordirsrv members 180. making a total c! 20G. During the year 11 koreros were held. Ladies' night was particularly successful, mainly on account uf the sketch, "At the Sign of the Blue Boar." which was most enthusiastically received. During the season a large parr; of members, headed by the Great Chief (Savage H. McD. Vincent 5 , raided the South Canterbury Savage Club, and the programme, comprising musical items and an amusing sketch.} was thoroughly enjoyed by the TimarJ savages. The party was most hospitably entertained on the Sunday at tie homestead of Savage Jameson, a! Tycho. The annual visit to the Cashmere Sanatorium was made by a part? under the leadership of the Great Chief, and was much appreciated i" the patients. The orchestra once aga.n demonstrated its ability, and its programmes wore among the most outstanding entertainments of the year. The club expresses its thanks to Savage Harold Beck, the musical director, and to the players. Owing to the absence of Savage Noel Newson, the position of accompanist was ably tilled by Savage Allen Wcllbroc-k. Savage Ncwson hail now returned from England and Savage Wellbrock had left for England Special thanks are expressed to the programme committee, particular!? Savages A. W. Brown. G. W. Russell W. Toomey. G. M. Smith, and the Rev. D. Gardner Miller. Through (he ge:-- ( erosity of Savage J. O. Jameson the club was invited to use Quail Island for a picnic, which was greatly enjoyed by all who attended it.
