THEFTS OF PETROL

* Members of the Wellington Automobile Club have reported many cases 'of theft of petrol from cars parked in the streets near picture theatres and dance halls. Many gallons of petrol lave been siphoned out of cars, and though the value may be comparatively small, the inconvenience caused :1s great. Mr J. S. Hawkes, secretary of the Canterbury Automobile Association, states that similar cases have occurred in Christchurch, but this class of theft is not as prevalent here 0s in Wellington. It was a difficult (natter, he said, to detect thefts of this character, as the thieves were quick Eorkers and it was not possible to ive all the cars parked, in the city under observation.
