Association's animal .stock ami . | produce ;:ho\v. held at Cheviot on Salj urday. was an outstanding success. ■ j The clay way brilliantly lino. residents | of the surrounding districts and the township turned cut in force, the organisation was splendid, and the entries, both in quality and quantity ; built up a display second to none seen in Cheviot for many year;:. In the lighl horse and pony section:; it is 20 years since such representative and J keen competition has been attracted. I As compared with the show ot 1933 ■ \ the entries were increased by 215 even j though the strength of the produce and home industries section was less I Sheep, horses, and roots all showed ! increases over corresponding sections. at the 1933 show. j Corriedale Classes Largo , The Ccrriedales and the fat shoe p ! and ismbs were outstanding among I the siicep penned. There were some ! competitors making their first nppeari ancs at the show, notably Mr J. Con- , ■ 1 nolly. M.P., while Mr N. !>. Camp- ( | belh ' whose Corriedale Hock has a . verv high reputation, exhibited for the ' [ first time for some years. The Corrie-; dale classes were exceptionally well , filled, and it was gratifying to see so, many breeders producing really firstclass stock. The championships were ' monopolised by N. D. Campbell in each case with sheep which would > hold their own with any of their breed anywhere. In some classes the winning sheep were those winch had alreadv distinguished themselves a. shows. The sheep of J. Connolly, M.P.. showed up well and seemed a number of minor plaeings, which, for a l'ux-t appearance, was a. satisfactory performance. A. Cillandors. John McAdam and C. E. Jack man were others to be placed in Corriedale section. The Seaithdowns all shov. Ed quality. although the sections were not numerically strong. J. !>. Stevenson won ■■ both the championship for ewe.; and the championship for rams, 'the English Leicester ewe in the ago class. also shown by J. P.. Sworn.on, was worthy of the championship t e-kot it was awarded. The ehampion English Leicester rain was shown by Mr C. G. Abbott. The fat sheep and lamb ; made a noteworthy showing, which, was equal in quality to any that ha; been seer. in Canterbury for socio time. l-sUrie-were numerous. and almost without exception first class. The champion ooev was Charlie Senior's Xelke.' and 'well ' it deserved the honour. The class for mare., of any age attracted the keenest ami most Vepre-ei,- ' tative competition among draught I horses, ami it was from it that the ' champion mare was select! d A. Giilanders's Pride.
