A light breeze was blowing from the north-east. The barometer continued high, but fell slightly after midday. Wellington—At Wellington yesterday the weather was warm and pleasant, but mostly cloudy, especially in the mornit;?. The maximum temperature was 70.8 degrees. Dunedin—A perfect autumn day was experienced in Dunedin yesterday. The morning was bright and sunny, but conditions were slightly cloudy in the afternoon. There was practically no wind, and the thermometer registered tSB degrees at midday. The barometer fell about 15 points and registered 30.55 in last evening. | FORECAST i 'From readings taken at 4 p.m.) I General Situation—A very intense anti-cyclone is still centred near the j Chatham Islands. A moderate westerly : depression now covers south-eastern Australia and is moving eastward. I Winds—Xorth-cast to northerly, still strong in the far north, elsewhere | light to moderate but freshen inc. Sea-; '.\'ew Zealand waters)—llather rough to rough north of East Cape, rising somewhat in Cook and Foveaux Straits, otherwise smooth to moderate.
Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate tc strong north-east to northerly winds moderate but rising seas. Weather—Still fair to cloudy anc mild in most places, but scattered rain: north of Kawhia and Tauranga and it: the far south, gradually becominj ' more widespread in western and southern districts: mist or fog in places.
