A readjustment of the North and South Island electric power supply accounts so as to run the Mangahao, Waikaremoana. and Lake Coleridge schemes through one account is wanted by the Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board. Such a readjustment it is held by the board, would have the effect of reducing the charges for supply m the North Inland. The secretary. Mr H. 11. Wylie. informed the board to-day Inat the Mangahao scheme had accumulated a loss of about i: 51)0,000. whereas the Lake Coleridge scheme showed an accumulated profit of approximately ii 200,000. He had been informed by the chief electrical engineer to the Public Works Department, Mr F. T. M. Kissel, that an amendment was to be submitted to Parliament to make a general amalgamation of the schemes. Mr S. Ashcroft said the board could look for no reduction until the losses of Mangahao and Waikaremoana were made up. The board finally decided that the matter be taken up by the secretary with the Minister for Public Works.
