MONDAY (Before Mr E. D. Mosley. S.M.> SENTENCE FOR FRAUD John Peris, a cook, aged 41, charged with obtaining credit by fraud, was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for a week. Sergeant D. Hyland said that on. Sunday the accused engaged a Gold Band taxi-cab and made several calls at city hotels, incurring a fare totalling 8s 6d. It was discovered that he had onlv one penny in his possession. Sergeant Hyland asked that the accused be remanded until Thursday. to allow enquiries into other complaints. Mr Mosley said that since Peris had pleaded guilty he could not remand him. There was a loir; list of convictions against the accused.
