WAIMAIRI BEACH PROGRESS LEAGUE
.MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Waimairi Beach Progress League was held last evening. Mr A. Floranc* presided. The chief postmaster advised that authority had been granted for a postal delivery for Badger and Sylvia streets, conditionally that the residents concerned erected letter-boxes on the street line. The secretary reported that each resident had complied with the request, and the delivery was now in operation. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr P. E. L. Broad for the manner in which he had conducted the business with the Post and Telegraph Department. A letter was received from the Selwyn Plantation Board asking if, in the event of the board deciding to invite tenders for the lease of an area of five acres of land facing Beach road. on which is part of the Waimairi Golf Club's course, the league would be preoared to submit a tender. The following motion was carried unanimously: "That the league wholeheartedly supports the obtaining of jurisdiction of the area facing Beach road," and it was resolved that the secretary advise the Selwyn Plantation Board that the league would submit a tender for the area. It was decided to place on record the league's endorsement of the action by Mr Broad in placing the case for the use of the reserve facing Beach road before the Selwyn Plantation Board and the Waimairi County Council. In reference to the league's request for a reduction of interest on the North Beach special roading loan, it was decided to invite Mr Good to attend the next meeting of the league to discuss the matter. It was decided to write to the Mairehnu Sports Club, and the Burwood Progressive Association asking for cooperation in suggestions for beach improvements.
