RUGBY j \ CITY CLUBS START | PRACTICE ■ Several city football clubs opened their season on Saturday, holding practices in weather more suitable for the game than for summer sports, which have not yet ended. The Christchurch, Merivale, and Linwood Rugby Football Clubs carried out their first practices, and the Nomads Association Football Club held jts opening day. The Sydenham, Old Boys, Albion, and Athletic Rugby Clubs will open the season on Saturday, and it is probable that many of the minor clubs will do the same. League football clubs are not expected to start the season until early in April. | RUGBY LEAGUE A.NM'AL MEETINGS The annual general meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Football League will be held on Monday next, March 26. and the Referees' Association will hold its meeting on Thursday next. | I A NKW CLI K A meeting of past pupils of the Tech- ! nical College was held on Wednesday j last, adjourning to Wednesday next, to ! consider the formation of a Rugby League club. The organisers state that the club will be lairly strong, probably entering three teams in the lower grade competitions. A number of the players will be drawn from existing clubs.
