The German newspapers comment favourably on the House of Commons debate on disarmament, but the suggestion that Germany should rejoin the league is unwelcome. French opinion deplores the lack of progress and doubts Great Britain"s intentions. BELGIAN FEARS OF ARMAMENT RACE GUARANTEES AGAINST GERMANY DESIRED (Received March 16, 5.5 p.m.) BRUSSELS, March 15. At the end of a debate on foreign affairs the Senate passed a resolution appealing to the Government to prevent an armament race and not to collaborate in any policies providing for German rearmament. In the event of such rearmament the Government should demand compensatory guarantees of security. The socialists supported the motion.
