A moderate south-west wind was blowing, and the maximum temperature was 53 degrees. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation —An anti-cyclone stretches along the south coast of Australia across the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. A slight wave of lowpressure has passed in the south, while a tropical cyclone is apparently situated north of Norfolk Island. Winds —Westerly at first about Cook Strait, and on the east coast of the North Island, otherwise south-westerly prevailing, backing latT to south-east-erly, moderate generally but freshenjrj ing in and north of Cook Strait.
