Who. I wonder, filched away This blatant name from the U.b.A.. God's Own Country, And fitted it on to poor N.Z. Li\-o a big fool's cap on a little fool's headGod's Own Country? Where the pig grows fat and the parson thin, And only the dogs have a sense of sin, "God's Own Country; Where the Name itself is never confessed Cut in ancient oath or frivolous jesu God's Own Country; Where the struggling Churches feebly strive. . A nd onlv the Army seems alive, God's Own Country; Where the Sabbath is only a day of sport. Spent 0:1 braches or links or court, (Not the courts that hymnals know "Pleasant are thy courts below"), God's Own Country. If she is His Own it is nothing new; Every Australian State is, too, God's Own Country; Her soul lies drowsy 'twixt bite and sup, And even this poem won't wake it up, God's Own Country! 1 —a. yr.
