VICTORIA COLLEGE COUNCIL
+ RESOLUTION OF GRADUATES QUESTIONED iniss »s<onirins 1 ri.iccirau.i WELLINGTON, March IG. Mr N. A. Fodcn. a Graduate of Victoria University College, denies the validity of the resolution passed by the college District Court of Convocation calling on the Court of Convocation's rep itatives on the college council to retire. .Mr Foden suggest:, that the resolution was in excess of the meeting's rights, because the subject had not been announced in the notice calling the meeting. He contends that about TO members attended out of approximately 2000. and the meeting could not be regarded as representative of the whole Court of Convocation. Mr H. McCormick. who presided at the meeting, declined to comment on Mr Fodcn's criticisms, but explain:d the intention behind the request fo-' the retirements. He said a motion was before the meeting urging that provision be made f<..- student representation on the college council, and that in the meantime, until effect could be given to this recommendation, it wa.; desirable that the Court of Convocation should elect a student as one of its representatives. It was pointed out that there would be no further election of a representative for some 18 months, and it was then proposed to invite the present representatives of the Court of Convocation to retire, and offer themselves for re-election if they thought fit. This proposal was adopted.
