Request for Croquet Lawns A large deputation of Papanui women wailed on Crs. T. H. Butterfield (chairman of the reserves committee), E. H. Andrews, and F. T. Evans, on Thursday evening, with a request that an area of St. James's Park be laid out in croquet lawns. Mr J. Sturrock, who introduced the deputation, said that with the closing of the greens in Langdon's road the players were forced to go to other parts of the city. There were enough enthusiasts to build up a strong club. The deputation expressed the desire that the greens should be ready fori next season. I Cr. Butterfield said that it would be necessary to secure additional land. The City Council had to economise, but probably the money could be found by the sale of some of the 5 per cent. reserves in the district. He advised the deputation to place the request before the council. Vapanui Pictures At the Papanui Theatre to-night. Clara Bow appears in "Call Her Savage."
