I (Received February 21, 8.20 p.m.) j SYDNEY, February 21. j A conference of state Ministers for i Agriculture at Hobart received a j communication from the Department [ of Commerce deploring the de- ] terioration in quality of butter ex- j ported from Australia. This was interpreted as a threat of Commonwealth interference if the states did not improve the quality of their butler exports. The percentage of choicest grade jin Victoria is stated to have de■clined steadily, till in 1931 it was 39 J (per cent. For the current season it was 45 per cent, in Victoria, 53 per j cent, in Queensland, 35 per cent, in ■ South Australia, and 48 per cent, in I Tasmania, while the quality in New j South Wales has progressively increased and the percentage of | choicest is now 34.
