The Rev. Father J. Finerty (Hokitika) left to-day for Christchurch, where he will spend a few days before his departure on a trip to Ireland and Br F W. Lumsdcn. of Waikato, has been appointed medical officer for Scuth Westland, with headquarters at Malainui. . 2 Mr T A. Ccci Prime (employers' representative) and A. L. Monteith (employees' representative). James Bcardsley. Bushman, oi lo Kinga (Mr T. F. Brosnanl. claimed compensation from the United Sawmills. Ltd., Te Kinga (Mr F. A. Kitchingham) for injuries received in an t-.ccident on October 9, 1932. Plaintiff, who claimed that his average earnings were £4 19s a week, was awarded by the court, after medical evidence had been heard, full compensation to date, full compensation for a further six months, and 50 per cent, compensation for the following three months. An adjournment for hearing at, Christchurch in March was decided upon in the case in which Rose Ann Murtha claimed £686 8s compensation from his Majesty the King for (lie death of her husband, Charles William Murtha. It is alleged that ho died following an accident while lie was working as a roadman for the Public Works Department, near Jackj sons. The adjournment is for the I purpose of hearing additional mcdiCal evidence and also of obtaining a dei linition of the duties of a roadman. At a sitting of the Children's Court, a youth charged with the theft of lG.s in money, was convicted and placed under the care of the Child Welfare Officer for two years, the first three months of that term to be spent in residence at an institution. I Agricultural and Pastoral Show I A total of 884 entries, compared with j 892 last year, has been received for , the various sections of the West. Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show, to be held on Friday and Saturday next. Sunday School Ticnics The annual picnic of the Knox Church Sunday school was held at Crushington on Saturday. About 100 ocrsons made the trip, and an enjoyable day was spent in sports and games. Bathing in the river was popular with adults and children alike. The annual picnic of St. Stephen's Sunday School was held at the racecourse on Saturday in beautiful weather. Games and sports were held for the children. Cricket Two representative matches were played by the Inangahua Association yesterday in beautiful weather. The first team played Waiuta for the Foster ' Cup and the second eleven played at Maruia. Inangahua. 229 for eight wickets (Woods 70. Blom 46. Hunt 12. Morris 53. Green 27) defeated Waiuta 172 (Dohcrtv 19. Scott 10. Lethwick 16. Morel 35, Timms 34. Williams 15. Douglas 23) by 57 runs on the first innings.
